2008-2009 Season Post-Mortem
by Administrator on Jun.01, 2009, under Reviews
Looking back, the 2008-2009 season was all about the fallout from the writers’ strike. Shows that probably never would have been renewed under normal circumstances struggled to survive renewal, while the extra time afforded some shows the time needed to jump-start their creative engines. This was also the season that marked the beginning of the end for a slew of genre favorites. (A process that is likely to accelerate in the 2009-2010 season.)
Overall, this past season marked a noticeable increase in quality. Compared to the previous season, the average Critical Myth rating increased by 0.3 points. More shows rose above the previous season benchmark than fell. In fact, only one show experienced a significant drop during the 2008-2009 stretch, and it was the only show to fall below average.
So without further ado, here is the ranking and post-mortem for the shows reviewed on Critical Myth during the 2008-2009 season:
1. Lost: Season 5 (8.3)
2. Supernatural: Season 4 (8.2)
3. Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 (8.1)
4. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Season 2 (7.8)
5. Fringe: Season 1 (7.7)
6. Pushing Daisies: Season 2 (7.7)
7. 24: Season 7 (7.4)
8. Prison Break: Season 4 (7.4)
9. Dollhouse: Season 1 (7.3)
10. Stargate: Atlantis: Season 5 (7.2)
